Patriots QB Cam Newton: 'I'm getting tired of being humble'

Former MVP Cam Newton is extremely motivated to win the starting gig in New England after a rather rough offseason when just about every NFL team passed on him.

The 31-year-old was released by the Carolina Panthers in March and now he's hungrier than ever. While Newton mainly has posted his workouts on Instagram since signing with the Patriots, this time he admitted he's ready to "roar."

“I’m a killer. I’m really a killer. I’m really a killer. Ya feel me?” Newton said in the video, working himself up. “I’m getting tired of all this humble s—. Because when you humble, they start taking advantage of you. When you don’t say nothing, they start taking advantage of you. But the hyena, they be doing all what they do. The elephant, they be doing all that they do. The giraffe, the antelope, the chimpanzees — even the gorilla. But it’s one mother f—– in the jungle, when he roar, everything stops! And I’m about to mother f—— roar, mother f—–.”

Newton played just two games last season after suffering a foot injury and wasn't great during the 2018 campaign, so it remains to be seen whether or not he has enough left in the tank.

The former Carolina Panthers signal-caller will be joining Brian Hoyer, Jarrett Stidham, J'Mar Smith and Brian Lewerke on the Patriots' quarterback depth chart.

Newton certainly would love to become New England's starter in the post-Tom Brady era but apparently wasn't guaranteed the position, according to The Athletic's Jeff Howe.

If Newton beats out the 23-year-old Stidham, it won't be that surprising...especially because Newton has made 124 career starts, made a Super Bowl appearance and was the league's MVP.
