Patriots QB Mac Jones makes big claim about Colts game

The New England Patriots would fall to 2-8 on the season with a loss to the 4-5 Indianapolis Colts in Germany this Sunday, but New England quarterback Mac Jones nevertheless believes the club could turn things around via its next four quarters of action.

"I always talk about trying not to focus on the results, but there can be great momentum in this game," Jones told reporters on Friday, per Chris Mason of MassLive. "It’s a momentum game, within each game and within game to game. I’m looking forward to going out there and competing and trying to get a win on the board. Like you said, get into the bye week and focus on building momentum."

According to ESPN stats, the Patriots enter the weekend ranked 27th in the NFL with an average of 289.4 offensive yards per game and 31st with an average of 15.0 points per contest. Additionally, rumblings emerged earlier this week claiming Jones has "infuriated" people within the organization this season with his poor decision-making, hasn't taken to coaching and "lost some players" in the locker room going back to last year.

Jones suggested on Friday the trip overseas could be part of what the 2023 Patriots need to right the ship.

"The biggest thing is it is a good team-bonding experience," Jones explained, as shared by Mark Daniels of MassLive. "To be in another country, spread the game of football, and do it together is very important. We have a lot of good guys on this team – a lot of veteran players and a lot of young players, too. It’s a great experience for everybody. We all know what we came here to do. That’s the focus – do our job and win the game."

As of Friday afternoon, oddschecker listed the Patriots as two-point underdogs against the Colts. It's rumored New England could part ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick as soon as Monday morning if the club fails to beat Indianapolis in Frankfurt.
