Patriots reportedly never had serious interest in two-time All-Pro WR Julio Jones

The New England Patriots were believed to be a top destination for Julio Jones when his trade demand was made public. However, he was traded to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, ruling out a move further north.

It appears the Patriots didn't have much interest in Jones. According to Peter King of NBC Sports, New England never had serious interest in committing $38 million to the All-Pro wide receiver.

King adds that three other teams, besides the Titans, were in the mix for Jones as of last week. However, none were willing to give up the second and fourth-round picks that Tennessee did.

The Patriots' interest in Jones, or lack thereof, makes sense. Bill Belichick signed a plethora of offensive players this offseason, including Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry, Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne.

With Jones off the table, the Patriots can continue to focus on the group they currently have and getting back to the playoffs after a disappointing 2020 season.
