What a day for the Detroit Lions. First they set up Amon-Ra St. Brown with a massive extension that makes him the highest paid receiver in the NFL . Now they're doing the same for right tackle Penei Sewell. He is now the highest paid offensive lineman in football.

Four years and $112 million with a guaranteed amount of $85 million. The Lions lock up the best right tackle in football until 2028. There's something you no longer have to worry about if you're the Lions. He isn't going anywhere.

Sewell has been phenomenal for the Lions since they took him with the the 7th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He allowed one sack in 2023 and that came almost a full year after he allowed the last one he had in 2022.

Sewell has been incredible on the right side, but he's also shown how valuable he is on the left side. He's even shown what he can do in the receiving game. Ask the Vikings.

The Lions are locking up all their young pillars for the future. This team plans to be good for a while.
