Peyton Manning gives hilarious critique of Giants’ failed ‘tush push’

When Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning offers advice, it’s usually wise to listen.

Perhaps if the New York Giants attempt the infamous “tush push” or “brotherly shove” play again, they’ll heed Manning’s critique of their failed attempt on a 4th-and-1 in the first quarter of Monday’s 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

“That guard’s got to get his hand more on the butt,” Manning said during the "ManningCast" of Monday’s game. “He’s got to get it up in there a little more, he’s not pushing hard enough. Pre-snap, he’s got to get his hand on the butt and then go. …There was no chance that was going to work.”

Full video of Manning’s critique is below.

Manning seemed particularly annoyed at the lackadaisical effort of Giants offensive linemen Shane Lemieux and Mark Glowinski in helping quarterback Daniel Jones sneak across the line to gain.

Jones was stopped shy of the first down by Jordyn Brooks and Bobby Wagner, and the Giants turned the ball over on downs. On Seattle’s first play of the ensuing drive, cheeks were referenced again on running back Kenneth Walker’s 73-yard touchdown, which was reviewed and overturned after Walker was ruled down by contact.

"ManningCast" guest Will Ferrell even poked fun at Manning’s cheek obsession, alerting the co-hosts they needed another butt cheek reference around the nine-minute mark of the second quarter because it had been a while since the last time they mentioned it.
