The collapse the Philadelphia Eagles endured in the second half of the 2023 season was one of the most disappointing collapses in NFL history. The offense was firing blanks while the defense was just letting anyone through.

The team have already made changes to the team to ensure something like that won’t happen again. One of their biggest solutions on the offensive end is snagging Saquon Barkley from the New York Giants, but they’ve also made plenty of moves to keep or acquire players they think could help them perform better.

On the defensive end, they’ve brought back CJ Gardner-Johnson to shore up the secondary. They also took one of the players from the team who beat them in the playoffs last season into their roster.

Philadelphia Eagles bring over Devin White for $7.5 million

Matt Hladik of The Spun wrote about the Eagles signing Devin White, one of the more productive linebackers for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, for a one-year deal that will see him earn $7.5 million.

Hladik writes about his achievements and what he can bring to the team:

The No. 5 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft out of LSU, White spent his first five pro seasons in Tampa. As a rookie, he burst onto the scene with 91 total tackles and four fumble recoveries, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

White followed that up with a career-high 140 tackles and nine sacks in 2020 as he helped the Bucs win Super Bowl LV. Overall, White started 75 games in Tampa, recording 566 total tackles, 23 sacks, nine fumble recoveries, six forced fumbles, three interceptions and 21 passes defensed.

White enjoyed a successful season in his final year at Tampa Bay, he scored 83 total tackles (49 of which were solo efforts), 2.5 sacks, six pass deflections, and two interceptions for 36 yards.

He’s been a lock in the Buccaneers’ lineup for the majority of his stay with the team. The same thing should be expected in his stint with the Eagles when the 2024 season starts. If he plays well enough, one can expect his stay with the team to get extended over time.
