Former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is heading back to Jersey. According to multiple media reports, the veteran quarterback has been dealt from the Philadelphia Eagles to the New York Jets with about one week to go before the NFL trade deadline.

NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo was the first to report the news that Philadelphia had opted to move off the 36-year-old signal caller. In return, the Eagles have landed a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.

A star for the Baltimore Ravens from 2008-2018, Flacco will now seemingly replace injured Jets rookie No. 2 pick Zach Wilson under center at some point soon. Wilson suffered a knee injury in the Jets' blowout Week 7 loss to the New England Patriots and is expected to miss a few weeks of action.

Flacco appeared in five games (four starts) for the Jets a season ago — throwing six touchdown passes against three interceptions in the process. He then signed a free-agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason.

Throughout his career, Joe Flacco has thrown for nearly 41,000 total yards with 224 touchdowns and 144 interceptions. He earned the Super Bowl XLVII MVP as a member of the Ravens following the 2012 season when they defeated the San Francisco 49ers in the big game by the score of 34-31.

The expectation here is that Flacco will take over under center in New York following Sunday’s disastrous 54-13 loss to New England . Mike White replaced Wilson under center in that game and promptly threw two interceptions.

As for Philadelphia, this means the recently-acquired Gardner Minshew will take over as QB2 behind a struggling Jalen Hurts.
