Philip Rivers: Chargers need to 'reload,' not rebuild

Despite falling drastically short of expectations and having a 4-11 record, San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers believes the team needs to "reload" rather than rebuild.

At the very least, that would be Rivers' hopes for the Chargers.

"I don’t have time for 'real far off,'" the 34-year-old Rivers said on Wednesday.

Without a playoff victory now for the past seven years, many voices would disagree with Rivers, but the Chargers signal caller isn't afraid to make his case.

"I don’t know how many guys we have on IR," Rivers added. "I see a new core developing. So, I see it more as reload. We lost eight games by one score or less."

Rivers had no excuses for a 4-11 record, however, he also said, "that doesn’t show me a team that’s far, far off. Do we have some things we need to do to reload, besides just what we have? Yeah."

The Chargers wrap up their season on Sunday by visiting the Denver Broncos.
