Philip Rivers continues his quest to build an all-offspring team

Philip Rivers hasn't taken a snap in the NFL in three years, retiring from the game in 2021 following a long and successful career. While most take it easy when they retire, Rivers remains busy. No pun intended.

Shortly, Rivers could one day quarterback an entire offense made up of his children following the recent announcement that he and his wife Tiffany are expecting their 10th child, a boy, this October.

"We are all fired up," Rivers told Ben Thomas of al.com. "Everyone was pulling for a boy. Even our girls wanted a boy."

For the Rivers, their two boys are still at a disadvantage against the family's seven girls. But, with their powers combined, they could be a force on the gridiron, especially if they have inherited their fathers' toughness. Jokes aside, Rivers said the whole clan is excited about the newest addition to the family.

While Rivers prepares for his 10th child, he also oversees another family. After the close of his NFL career, Rivers began coaching at St. Michael Catholic high school, where he's turned around the football program. The Cardinals were 3-8 when Rivers took over but are 12-7 over the last two seasons.

The 41-year-old spent 17 seasons in the NFL with the Chargers and Indianapolis Colts and is only two years away from becoming eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. An eight-time Pro Bowler, Rivers has made a decent case to be a first-ballot inductee. Rivers ranks sixth in NFL history in passing yards (64,440) and touchdowns. The only other quarterbacks above Rivers in both categories are either already in the Hall or headed there soon.
