The Pittsburgh Steelers were named this week by Pro Football Focus as the best landing spot for one of the NFL's top remaining free agents.

PFF thinks the Steelers would be a great landing spot for free agent wide receiver Tyler Boyd.

Boyd, who spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Cincinnati Bengals, is coming off a solid season in which he caught 67 passes for 667 yards.

From PFF: Boyd is a big slot receiver with solid blocking chops in the run game. He rarely ever drops a target and does well to sit in soft spots of zones on key passing downs. However, Boyd posted several career-low marks in 2023, and with so many big financial decisions facing Cincinnati, the Bengals may not be willing to offer him as much as other teams looking to upgrade their unit over the middle.

I would love this signing for the Steelers. For starters, Boyd has been a consistent player throughout his career. He may not be a perennial Pro Bowler, but he rarely misses games and he's averaged 750 receiving yards a season during his first eight years in the NFL.

Boyd has spent the last couple of seasons playing behind Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase, which has somewhat limited his production.

If the Steelers sign Boyd, they'd be adding a veteran presence to their wide receiver group that is incredibly dependable. He's a pro's pro.

Boyd would also be a nice addition because he played college football at Pittsburgh and he's from nearby Clairton, PA -- the Steelers feel like a natural fit for the former second round draft pick.

The Bengals could still bring Boyd back -- especially if they trade Higgins. But if they don't, the Steelers should jump at the opportunity to sign Boyd.
