The Pittsburgh Steelers sign Christian Kuntz to a one-year deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed a familiar face to the team on Wednesday. Many teams are adding depth to their rosters here in the early offseason. OTAs are a few months away, and teams will have a chance to evaluate new talent for the 2023 season.

According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Steelers re-signed starting long snapper Christian Kuntz to a one-year deal.

As a former linebacker in college at Duquesne, Kuntz transitioned into being a long snapper in the NFL. He was initially signed by the New England Patriots in 2017. According to the Steelers website when Kuntz was signed in 2020, the long snapper has signed in Pittsburgh a few times. He also has XFL experience:

“Kuntz was with the XFL’s Dallas Renegades as a long snapper this season, but also plays linebacker.

He is no stranger to the Steelers after being signed during the preseason last year. He was released a few weeks later when the team cutdown to the 53-man roster.

Kuntz, who spent time on the Denver Broncos practice squad during the 2018 offseason, was later signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad at the end of the 2018 season and then signed a futures deal at the end of the year.”

According to Pro Football Focus, Kuntz has started on the special teams for the Steelers the previous two seasons.
