The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of some help at wide receiver after trading Diontae Johnson to the Carolina Panthers last month.

The Steelers are expected to address the position in the NFL Draft, and Pro Football Focus sees a potentially great fit for the club on Day 2 of the draft: Michigan wideout Roman Wilson.

Pittsburgh has already shown considerable interest in Wilson, as it saw him at the Senior Bowl, attended Michigan’s Pro Day and brought him in for a pre-draft visit.

Wilson is coming off of a 2023 campaign in which he hauled in 48 receptions for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns, representing, by far, his most productive collegiate season.

The 22-year-old arrived at Michigan in 2020 and had a very limited role during his freshman year, logging just nine catches for 122 yards and a score.

The following year, Wilson’s role increased, as he caught 25 passes for 420 yards while reaching the end zone three times. He then snared 25 balls for 376 yards and four touchdowns in his junior campaign before finally breaking out this past season.

Right now, the Steelers have George Pickens and not much else at receiver, so they will almost certainly be selecting a pass-catcher during the draft.

Of course, Pittsburgh may very well opt to roll with wide out in the first round, but if not, it may end up settling on Wilson later on.

Behind Pickens, the Steelers would currently be employing Calvin Austin III as the likely No. 2 receiver, which is not exactly an enviable situation.

Pittsburgh needs to find more weapons for Russell Wilson, so we will see how the club goes about resolving that issue a little over a week from now.
