Polamalu's cousin unharmed in Oregon shooting tragedy

by Mark Fishman

At least 10 are dead, and 20 have been injured in a mass shooting on Thursday at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.

Brandon Polamalu, cousin of former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu, was on campus at the time of the shooting. Polamalu was inside Snyder Hall when the shooting took place. He sent the following text message to his Mother at 10:51 a.m. Pacific Time: "There's a shooting on campus. I'm OK mom."

Snyder Hall, where Polamalu was located, is believed to be the location where the shooting came to an end with the death of the shooter.

Troy Polamalu played 12 seasons in the NFL for the Steelers, making it to eight Pro-Bowls, and winning to Super Bowls. Polamalu retired from the NFL in 2014.
