The Metropolitan Police Department announced they made an arrest in the shooting of Washington Commanders rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr.

Police arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile from Northeast D.C. and charged him with assault with intent to rob while armed. The suspect was 16 years of age at the time of the shooting. Police are still searching for a second suspect, providing a video of a person of interest.

On Aug. 28 at approximately 5:28 p.m., the two males approached Robinson on the 1000 block of H Street NE, according to police. The suspects brandished a handgun and attempted to rob Robinson. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired the gun, striking Robinson, before fleeing the scene without obtaining any property.

Robinson was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening wounds.

According to previous reports, Robinson got struck in the knee. Robinson avoided major structural damage to his ligaments, tendons and bones.

Robinson appeared in line to be Washington’s lead running back after an impressive preseason before the shooting. The Commanders placed Robinson on the non-football injury list shortly after he underwent surgery. Washington activated Robinson off the NFI on Oct. 8, five weeks after being shot.

Robinson made his NFL debut in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans. Since playing, he has not shown any noticeable ill effects from the shooting.

Robinson has 175 yards on 54 rush attempts and one touchdown in four games.
