Police report shows no clear motive for Phillip Adams killings

The official police report from the killings committed by former NFL defensive back Phillip Adams reportedly does not provide a reason for the mass shooting. 

According to ESPN's David Newton, the official report "revealed little motive" for Adams' decision to shoot and kill six others before killing himself. 

Adams, a former pick of the San Francisco 49ers, killed Dr. Robert Lesslie, his wife and their two grandchildren. He also shot and killed two technicians who were working at Lesslie's home. 

Following the shooting, U.S. Representative Ralph Norman said that Lesslie had been treating Adams and had stopped giving him medication. That theory has not gained any traction. 

Adams' father told WCNC-TV that he thinks "football messed him up," and admitted that the family has opted to have his brain studied for CTE by the Medical University of South Carolina and Boston University. 

Adams spent six seasons in the NFL with the 49ers, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons.
