Everyone is going to freak out about prospects running in shorts. Not around here. While thresholds matter, the film doesn’t lie and the next big piece of data is draft capital, not just comparing raw numbers. Still, before rookie fever hits everyone like a truck, let’s run through a 1QB dynasty mock draft using projected landing spots from the latest first round mock draft.
Note – Only 12 fantasy relevant players received first round draft capital in the mock draft. For all other players, we will use the RB rankings and WR rankings and forecast the top prospects remaining to be second our third-round players. 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 2 FLEX and 1TE PPR no TEP for this format.
Pre-Combine Dynasty Mock Draft – 1QB Fantasy Football
1.01 Marvin Harrison Jr, WR
He’s so good he has decided to just completely skip the 2024 NFL Combine. Funny enough, I don’t blame him. The landing spot with the Arizona Cardinals is juicy, and Kyler Murray has a new toy in town.
1.02 Malik Nabers, WR
Nabers would have been the WR1 last year. He likely would have been on par with Garrett Wilson and Drake London the year before. There are groups of people that think he’s the best WR in this class, and honestly that’s not too far off. He’s a stud and getting him at two overall is a smash selection.
1.03 Rome Odunze, WR
If you hit Chris Olave with the super soldier serum it would be Odunze. He doesn’t have the same long speed, but he’s thick and able to manipulate defenders at every level of his routes. Pairing him with Caleb Williams would be a slam dunk for the Bears, and for our dynasty teams.
1.04 Brock Bowers, TE
Everyone is going to point to the Kyle Pitts saga as a reason to fade Bowers. Don’t be like those people. Bowers is a monster with the ball in his hands and has the awkward personality that makes elite tight ends elite.
1.05 Brian Thomas Jr, WR
Take a 6’4″ silky smooth basketball player with body control and elite top end speed. Now put them on the Jaguars with Trevor Lawrence. There’s supposed to be a “the real mock draft starts here” joke but this is a slam dunk pick.
1.06 Xavier Worthy, WR
May I interest you in Diontae Johnson with an extra gear? Worthy’s film study is must watch TV, and his landing spot in the mock draft makes it all the better. The difference between WR4 and WR8 in this class is razor thin, and landing spot will shake out the back half of the first round for 1QB dynasty mock drafts.
1.07 Keon Coleman, WR
Sure, he’s a little rough around the edges, but Coleman plays above the rim and can do things on a football field that most prospects just flat out can’t. A WR coach can teach nuance in their route running, they can’t teach the way Coleman plucks the ball out of the air like a frog grabbing a dragonfly.
1.08 Troy Franklin, WR
Someone atrociously left Franklin out of the first round in the mock draft, so he’s going to the Panthers at the top of the second round. No shade to Adam Thielen, but Franklin would immediately be the best WR in Carolina by a mile. If Bryce Young can turn it around, Franklin will be part of the reason.
1.09 Ladd McConkey, WR
Every time someone compares McConkey to Hunter Renfrow a referee makes a bad call next year. McConkey is closer to a skinny Chris Godwin than Renfrow and is one of the best route runners in the class. He’ll never set the yards or touchdowns record, but he’ll be a consistent WR3 for your fantasy teams when you need him.
1.10 Jayden Daniels, QB
While Caleb Williams is the better pick in Superflex leagues due to his safety, Daniels is the top QB off the board in this 1QB mock draft because we’re looking for the ceiling in this dynasty format. His rushing ability has folks over the moon, and it’s easy to see why.
1.11 Trey Benson, RB
Jonathon Brooks is a better prospect than Benson. But at the RB position, early returns are king. Kendre Miller was always a year two play, but his stock has remained low as folks haven’t seen the juice yet. Benson will get an early opportunity to shine and has a three-down skillset.
1.12 Jonathon Brooks, RB
You just won your league, and now you get the best RB prospect in the draft. He’s going to sit on your taxi squad for at least a couple of months but getting him here feels like a steal. Worst case scenario you grab Bucky Irving or Braelon Allen if you’re looking for more immediate support.
