Clutch kicker Robbie Gould announced his retirement Thursday after 17 seasons with three NFL teams.

Gould, who turned 41 on Wednesday, played his first 11 seasons in Chicago and his last six in San Francisco.

"To have the kind of playing-career experience that I had in the NFL was nothing short of amazing, and my level of gratitude for the journey -- the ups, the downs, the in between -- is immeasurable," he posted on Instagram. "In short, my NFL story is hard to believe, and it's filled with a plethora of 'pinch-me' moments."

Gould said he plans to spend more time with his family, do charity work and coach Little League.

Gould never missed a kick in the postseason, converting all 29 field goals and all 39 extra points. He appeared in Super Bowl XLI with the Bears and LIV with the 49ers, losing both games.

He was a first-team All-Pro and a Pro Bowl selection in his second year with the Bears in 2006, when he set a franchise record by converting 26 consecutive field goals.

Gould made 86.5 percent of his field goals (447 of 517) and 97.5 percent of his PATs (620 of 636) in 266 games with the Bears (2005-15), New York Giants (2016) and 49ers (2017-22).
