Pro Bowl LB Bobby Wagner could land with Rams or other NFC West team

Seemingly out of nowhere, fans of the Seattle Seahawks found themselves supporting a rebuilding team that agreed to ship one-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos when the new league year opens next week and released Pro Bowl linebacker Bobby Wagner on Wednesday.

In an official statement regarding that transaction, Seahawks general manager John Schneider called Wednesday "an extremely difficult day for the organization." It turns out Wagner could soon be giving Seattle multiple rough days each season.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport initially reported that the three other NFC West clubs "already" have interest in Wagner, who is a free agent now and, thus, doesn't have to wait until next Wednesday to put pen to paper on a deal with a different employer.

Specifically, The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue mentioned the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams as a potential landing spot for the six-time First-Team All-Pro with eight Pro Bowl nods.

Per Rodrigue, the Rams could offer the Los Angeles native a deal worth around $4 million to $5 million with incentives. Rodrigue added that Wagner "may want to play in his hometown on a contending team, and get two shots a year at the franchise that cut him."

Thus far, the 31-year-old has only one championship on his resume. He earned that as a member of the "Legion of Boom" defense that guided the Seahawks to a blowout Super Bowl XLVIII victory over the Denver Broncos.

As noted by ESPN stats, Wagner was second on the Seahawks for the 2021 season with 170 total tackles. He also tallied a sack, an interception, a forced fumble and five pass breakups.
