Pro Bowl WR Davante Adams unsure Aaron Rodgers will return to Packers?

Green Bay Packers four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams has had plenty to say this week about quarterback and reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Aaron Rodgers, who has reportedly informed some people that he won't be returning to the club and wants to be traded.

Adams told Colin Cowherd on Monday he's "praying" Rodgers rethinks things and remains with Green Bay but later added he could look to leave the Packers after the 2021 season, when he can become a free agent, if Rodgers is playing elsewhere or is retired by next March.

Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Adams discussed Rodgers' future on "The Peter King Podcast" and reiterated he's spoken with the disgruntled signal-caller. While Adams didn't disclose specifics about that conversation, he implied the situation is dire when asked about his "gut feeling" regarding Rodgers potentially playing for the Packers this fall.

"I don’t, man," Adams answered. "Just trying to be positive, just keep my mind on it, I don’t even want to bring anything else into this universe. I just want to think good thoughts and kind of downplay it in my head and just hope that at some point it just goes back to normal and we show up to camp and everybody’s ready to rock."

Rodgers is signed through 2023 and turns 38 years old in December, but Adams' latest comments suggest the quarterback may seriously entertain either holding out to force a trade or threatening the Packers with retirement if he doesn't receive his exit from Green Bay or a contract extension to his liking.
