Pro Football Focus calls Dolphins a team nobody wants to see in playoffs

Owners of the longest win streak in the NFL, the Miami Dolphins have one of the more dangerous offenses in the league.

That offense has been the catalyst for the team’s four-game win streak, and as Sam Monson of Pro Football Focus wrote in a recent column, that offense is why the Dolphins are a team that nobody wants to play in the playoffs.

“There isn’t a defender in the league who can match up with (Tyreek) Hill one-on-one, and so any attempt to take him away has to be done schematically, which can be countered by Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel and his play calling,” Monson wrote.

“…(Tua) Tagovailoa is the owner of the NFL's highest PFF grade on third and fourth downs among quarterbacks, and if you look at just games where he has started and finished, the Dolphins are undefeated with the league’s best offense in terms of expected points ade ggrrded per play."

Miami is 7-0 in games this season that Tagovailoa starts and finishes. The third-year quarterback leads the NFL in passer rating (118.4), and he ranks fifth in both passing yards per game (283.1) and touchdown passes (18).

Conversely, Hill (1,148) and Waddle (878) rank second and fifth, respectively, in receiving yards this season. Miami also added running back Jeff Wilson Jr. at the trade deadline to solidify the team’s backfield. He’s contributed 215 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in two games.
