QB Daniel Jones to be weekly podcast guest during what may be last season with Giants

The last three NFL seasons strongly suggest that current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones isn't going to follow in the footsteps of two-time Super Bowl champion signal-caller Eli Manning as it pertains to on-the-field accomplishments.

Jones and Manning will have at least one thing in common during the upcoming season.

Andrew Marchand of the New York Post reported on Friday that Jones will be a weekly guest on Tuesdays for the Ringer's "New York, New York with John Jastremski" podcast. Jastremski previously worked for New York radio station WFAN but left that company last year for The Ringer.

Long before the Giants spent a first-round draft choice on Jones in 2019, Manning had a weekly radio spot on WFAN with New York sports legend Mike Francesa:

Marchand reports that "Manning would receive a six-figure-plus sum" for his radio partnerships. It's unclear what Jones is getting for the podcast appearances that will begin this coming Tuesday (Sept. 6).

The Giants declined the fifth-year option attached to Jones' rookie contract this past spring, meaning he is about to start his first-ever regular season under head coach Brian Daboll while in the final campaign of his deal.

Jones enjoyed a solid preseason and, per Fox Sports stats, completed 20-of-26 passes for 185 yards and an interception that wasn't his fault:

As Michael David Smith noted for Pro Football Talk, Giants general manager Joe Schoen recently reminded everyone that Jones must produce when the games matter, beginning with the Week 1 matchup at the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 11.

"I think Daniel’s in a good place. I’m happy where he is," Schoen said. "But again, we all know everybody’s got to go perform on Sundays, and that’s when the evaluations will really start."
