QB Jacoby Brissett's performance ranks among Cleveland's best

Since their expansion season in 1999, the Cleveland Browns (2-1) have spent the majority of their time searching for a viable starting quarterback. The nightmares of DeShone Kizer, Brady Quinn and Cody Kessler still dance in the minds of Browns fans, who must have slept a lot better Thursday evening after Jacoby's Brissett's impressive performance.

In the 29-17 win over the Steelers, Brissett completed 21-of-31 passes for 220 yards and two TDs.

According to Pro Football Focus, Brissett's 92.5 grade is the highest grade given to a Cleveland Browns quarterback since 2007. PFFs grading system is different than a typical quarterback rating or ESPN's QBR metric in that PFF assigns a grade to each play and uses that data to help determine their weekly grades.

The fact the showing came from a journeyman quarterback on his fourth team makes it more surprising.

Brissett earned plaudits from teammates, too.

"I think he’s proven obviously he can win, but I don’t think he’s proven anything we didn’t already know about him,” receiver Amari Cooper said, per the Akron Beacon-Journal. “I don’t think he would be in the league if he wasn’t a good quarterback at this point."
