QB Jared Goff: Rams have 'advantage' on offense due to familiarity

When the Los Angeles Rams made it to the Super Bowl in Sean McVay's second year as head coach, expectations were sky-high for the team. However, the Rams struggled mightily last season, going 9-7 and failing to make the postseason.

Now, the team is looking to bounce back, and quarterback Jared Goff believes the Rams have an "advantage" in the quarantine offseason thanks to their familiarity with their system.

"It's so fluid, it changes every week at this point," Goff told NFL.com. "It'll be good that the whole league will have to stick to a similar program, so there won't be any disadvantage in that way. I do think we (the Rams) have an advantage offensively with the same system, the same players and everything. Our defense is obviously going to have to get on the grass and learn their new system."

Goff is right that the Rams will be playing in McVay's system for the third year, which should breed familiarity. But there are certain changes the team will need to adjust to, including Kevin O'Connell taking over as offensive coordinator and All-Pro running back Todd Gurley ending up on the Falcons.

However, despite these adjustments, Goff is confident the offense will be firing on all cylinders by September.

"But it's an advantage for us running into the season where you've got teams that are trying to install new systems on both offense and defense, which is damn near impossible," Goff said.
