QB Russell Wilson wants to be with Broncos 'for a long, long time'

It was assumed by many back in March that it was a matter of when, not if, the Denver Broncos would lock quarterback Russell Wilson down via a new extension after they acquired the one-time Super Bowl champion signed only through the 2023 season from the Seattle Seahawks.

Wilson still hasn't put pen to paper on an agreement with his current employer, but Broncos general manager George Paton told reporters Tuesday that he has "a really good relationship with Russ' agent, Mark Rogers" and that "at the right time, we’ll get a deal done."

ESPN's Jeff Legwold notes that Wilson could make more than $50 million per season on his upcoming contract after Kyler Murray of the Arizona Cardinals recently signed an extension that reportedly carries an average annual value of $46.1 million. Wilson spoke with media members following Wednesday's practice and made it clear he's committed to Denver beyond just a couple of campaigns.

"I don't worry about those guys and what they're doing — awesome for them,'' Wilson explained about other signal-callers such as Murray and Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens negotiating big-money deals for themselves. "Obviously, Kyler, great for him. Obviously, Lamar, with his situation, but it has nothing really to do with me. I'm excited to be here. I know I want to be here for a long, long time, hopefully the rest of my career. It's been a blessing with these guys.''

Wilson added his "sole focus'' is "winning a Super Bowl for the Broncos and more" as of the early days of training camp.
