QB Ryan Fitzpatrick wants to keep playing in 2021

The NFL could still have some FitzMagic during the 2021 season.

Veteran journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will soon be out of contract, and those running the Miami Dolphins, Fitzpatrick's employer this past season, have made it clear that Tua Tagovailoa will enter next training camp as Miami's starter.

Neither those realities nor the fact that Fitzpatrick turns 39 years old in November has the popular signal-caller considering retirement ahead of Super Bowl LV, something he discussed during a recent appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."

"This offseason, we already saw it with (Jared) Goff and (Matthew) Stafford obviously," Fitzpatrick said of proven commodities who have already changed teams, per Kevin Patra of the NFL's official website. "Who knows what's going to happen with Deshaun (Watson). There's rumors everywhere in the quarterback market, but there are a lot of teams looking for a new quarterback or new quarterbacks. So, for me, personally, I have to take every offseason now, and just reassess. And I know, these last two years have really re-lit that fire under me, and I still want to play, and I enjoy being out there playing."

Miami coach Brian Flores benched Tagovailoa in favor of Fitzpatrick on multiple occasions during the fall, and the bearded wonder completed a career-high 68.5 percent of his passes in his nine appearances. Per ESPN stats, that was the seventh-highest completion percentage recorded during the regular season.

In total, Fitzpatrick finished with 2,091 passing yards, 13 passing touchdowns, two rushing scores and eight interceptions.

Fitzpatrick proved in late December that he's more than just a mentor at this advanced stage of his career.

Don't be surprised if he tallies a few wins for a playoff contender next fall.
