There has been some doubt if quarterback Aaron Rodgers is willing to be a leader for younger players on the team. Well, his words today were along the lines of positive leadership.  After he spoke about how his young receivers were having a couple of rough practices, he reportedly called a meeting early Wednesday morning prior to the team’s joint practice with the Saints.  It was Rodgers and his whole receiving core.  Rookie receiver Samori Toure called it “highly productive.”  He also said, “we responded well, we were challenged and rose to the occasion (in practice).”

After some of his young receivers were having a couple bad practices with mental errors, route-running mistakes and drops, the 18-year quarterback of the Packers made it a point to give his young teammates some tough love.  He challenged them to be better today and that is exactly what happened.  Romeo Doubs and Sammy Watkins were looked to a lot in the team’s two-minute drill in practice Wednesday, and they played very well.  Samori Toure and Amari Rodgers also responded well.  After a rough day on Tuesday, they came back ready to get better the next day.  That is a good sight to see if you are the Packers and their fans.

This is a part of leadership.  Aaron Rodgers has received criticism from the media for years due to some decisions he has made in the locker room with his teammates.  His words today are a clear indication that he just wants the best for his teammates and wants them to be successful.  Sometimes, Rodgers' leadership style is misconstrued.  If he and his young receivers are all on the same page, the sky is the limit for this Green Bay offense.  The Packers will play their second preseason game against New Orleans at Lambeau Field on Friday night.  Fans will get to see the team’s young receivers in live game action for the first time on their home field.
