Radio host: Not a 'slam dunk' Tom Brady finishes 2022 NFL season

Audacy's Ryan Gilbert noted that former New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton and former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw were among those who heavily criticized Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady for missing a team walk-through to attend the wedding of New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft on Friday. 

Radio hosts Andrew Fillipponi and Danny Parkins added themselves to the list during the latest edition of the "1st & Pod" podcast after Brady and the Buccaneers fell to 3-3 on the season via Sunday's 20-18 loss at the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

"He skipped a walk-through. He flew in by himself," Fillipponi said of Brady during the episode. "He short-hopped balls early in the game. He missed receivers. He did the over-the-top 'I’m going to curse out my offensive linemen when it’s really my fault.'" 

Fillipponi added: "I don’t know if it’s a slamdunk he finishes the year. I don’t think that that’s 100% that he finishes the season." 

Brady temporarily retired this past February but then announced roughly six weeks later he was returning to the Buccaneers for at least the 2022 NFL season. The seven-time Super Bowl champion has had in name in headlines since early September amid reports claiming he and wife Gisele Bündchen have hired divorce attorneys and that their relationship is "beyond saving" for reasons that supposedly include his decision to play this fall. 

"I don’t think it’s 100% either," Parkins responded to Fillipponi. "There’s obviously a lot going on and he’s clearly not 100% committed to football." 

Brady completed 25-of-40 passes for 243 yards with a single touchdown against Pittsburgh. 

Meanwhile, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick did not attend Kraft's wedding so he could instead prepare for Sunday's game at the Cleveland Browns. New England defeated Cleveland 38-15.

"Why wasn’t Belichick at the Kraft wedding? Why weren’t current Patriots players there? It was all retired guys and one person who I think very clearly right now probably wants to be retired, too," Fillipponi added about Brady. 

The Buccaneers next play at the 1-5 Carolina Panthers this coming Sunday.
