For the second consecutive season, the Las Vegas Raiders had one of the best offensive lines in the National Football League. Las Vegas' previous coaching staff left a talented offensive line with multiple linemen who could play various positions along the line and a left tackle who ranks near the league's top.

In addition, many of the Raiders' starting offensive line didn't miss much playing time this season, and when one of them did, another starting-caliber offensive lineman filled the open spot.

Meredith, an undrafted free agent from Western Kentucky University, rarely played this season, but he did so admirably when he did. More than anything, Meredith provides versatile depth at a position the Raiders are already talented at.

Offensive guard Meredith may not register many stats. Still, the fact that many of the Raiders' starting offensive linemen can play different positions along the line and Meredith's versatility allows him to be listed as the backup for both offensive guard positions and the center position.

Combine that with Meredith's contract being under $1 million, making Meredith much more valuable than he may seem on paper, which is where his potential value is for the Raiders. He's a capable depth player who can fill in briefly when needed and is on a team-friendly contract.

However, the Raiders' front office and coaching staff could view Meredith's value differently. His value could lessen if the team feels they can upgrade their starting offensive line and the players on the depth chart behind them.

The NFL Draft and free agency are two primary tools that can quickly change a team's early offseason plans for their rosters. Meredith provided value when the Raiders called upon him, but heading into next season, anything is possible. It is far from a guarantee that Meredith will return.
