The Las Vegas Raiders continue to add more talent to their roster this 2024 NFL free agency.

On Monday, the team announced the signing of free agent running back Alexander Mattison, the former Minnesota Viking.

Mattison spent five seasons with Minnesota, most of which were spent with the Vikings as the backup to running back Dalvin Cook.

During his time with the Vikings, Mattison played 75 games, rushing on 584 attempts for 2,370 yards and scoring 11 touchdowns.

Last season, Mattison finished playing 16 games rushing on 180 attempts for 700 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, Mattison ended the 2023-24 NFL regular season with a PFF offensive grade of 61.8, a rushing grade of 70.2, and a receiving grade of 41.2.

In the most recent episode of the Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast, our own Hondo Carpenter Sr was joined by weekly guest Matt Hladik, editor and publisher at thespun.com. Hladik had the opportunity to talk about Mattison and his role as a running back, which he will have in the Silver and Black running back room.

"You now have a guy like Alexander Mattison who's been around and understands what it's like to be part of a timeshare and to be part of a rotation there, and I think you said he could do some different things, so they'll be able to utilize him."

Mattison will have the chance to pair alongside running back Zamir White. White showed flashes towards the end of the 2023-24 NFL season. He finished the season rushing on 121 attempts for 521 yards and scoring one rushing touchdown.

According to Pro Football Focus, White finished the season with a PFF offensive grade of 71.7, a rushing grade of 70.6, and a receiving grade of 69.7.

It will be exciting to see what this new running back duo will bring to the Silver and Black offense next season.
