Raiders' Josh Jacobs motivated by heckling sign at Seahawks

It seems Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs found some extra motivation ahead of what became Sunday's 40-34 overtime win at the Seattle Seahawks.

"It all started before the game," Jacobs told NBC Sports' Peter King for Monday's "Football Morning in America" column. "This fan, when we came out of the tunnel, held up a sign: '3-7. NOT BAD FOR A TEAM WITH NO TALENT.' And he was screaming at us, all this bad stuff. I just looked up at him and said, 'Thank you for that. I needed that today. You turnt me up.'"

Jacobs had the last laugh in multiple ways, as he took a carry 86 yards to the house for a walk-off game-winning touchdown in the extra period of Sunday's contest that improved the Raiders to 4-7 on the season. Meanwhile, Seattle dropped to 6-5.

In total, Jacobs accumulated 229 rushing yards and two scores to go along with six catches for 74 yards. According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), he set a franchise record with 303 yards from scrimmage that were good for the seventh-most in a game during the league's Super Bowl era.

Jacobs admitted to King he was thinking about one person in particular rather than his place in record books immediately after Sunday's matchup.

"He’s the first one I wanted to find after we won," Jacobs added about the fan with the sign. "I went over to him and said, ‘Thank you.'"

The win may have at least temporarily saved the Raiders' season, as the NFL website shows they're 12th out of 16 teams in the AFC postseason picture with plenty of football left to play. Las Vegas next hosts the 6-5 Los Angeles Chargers this coming Sunday.

As for Jacobs, ESPN stats note that he leads the league with 1,159 rushing yards this season. Derrick Henry of the Tennessee Titans is second with 1,048 yards on the ground.
