The Las Vegas Raiders are still making their defensive staff better, even though they need to finish up the staff on the offensive side of the ball. They still need an offensive coordinator, and while those interviews are going on, they are improving the staff all around.
On Wednesday, they hired former Pittsburgh Steelers assistant defensive backs coach Gerald Alexander as their safety coach, which is a huge hire and one that will fly under the radar.
Now, they are adding to that part of the defense with another great hire.
According to George Takata, the Raiders are hiring Ricky Manning Jr. as their defensive backs coach. Takata added that Manning said, "They wouldn't let me leave the building."
Manning was with the New York Jets last season and played a role in their great defense, along with the development of guys like Sauce Gardner.
This is a big signing that may not get talked about enough, but it could be mentioned by the time 2024 is over.
