With the recent hiring of GM Tom Telesco, there were a few important questions raised by the fans of the Las Vegas Raiders, and rightfully so. Many people thought the Raiders would go in the direction of Champ Kelly as general manager since he was assistant GM and then the interim GM when Dave Ziegler was fired.

However, owner Mark Davis would rather have an experienced GM paired with an inexperienced head coach in Antonio Pierce. So, where does that leave Champ Kelly, who was a candidate for a few different GM jobs around the league?

After the introductory press conference, Davis answered a few questions about what Kelly's role would be in the franchise in 2024. Davis revealed that Kelly will be on the staff as an assistant GM unless he finds a better job, but also noted that he hopes Kelly can find a way to stay.

"I think he brings a lot to this organization," Davis said. "I have a lot of respect for him and what he was able to do."

Kelly did showcase some great skills when he was interim GM, like the move to sign Jack Jones off of waivers, who has looked like a guy that they can possibly build around in the secondary.

So, it makes sense that the Raiders would want to keep Kelly around. However, if I had to guess, he likely won't be around next year. He is too good and too highly coveted, and some team with a GM opening will likely hire him.
