Raiders' Maxx Crosby echoes Davante Adams about coaching situation

Las Vegas Raiders All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams publicly campaigned this week for team owner Mark Davis to give interim head coach Antonio Pierce the full-time gig this offseason.

Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby made it known Thursday he shares Adams' opinion on the matter.

"There's only 32 [NFL] head coaches in the whole world," Crosby told reporters, as shared by Paul Gutierrez of ESPN. "So, you've got to find a leader of men. And when you've got one of them in the building currently, I don't know why you would let them go."

The Raiders thus far have gone 4-4 under Pierce heading into this Sunday's season finale against the 8-8 Denver Broncos. While it's thought Pierce has a legitimate chance to win the job later this month, the Raiders have been linked in stories with big names such as New England Patriots legend Bill Belichick and, more recently, Jim Harbaugh of the Michigan Wolverines.

Then-interim coach Rich Bisaccia famously guided the 2021 Raiders to an unexpected postseason berth and was backed by multiple players to receive the full-time job. Las Vegas instead hired Josh McDaniels, a decision Davis likely regrets in early 2024.

"I've made the playoffs one time in five years. It's bulls---," Crosby added. "And we've got to figure out what we're going to do moving forward. And I'm sick of change. I'm sick of losing. I just want stability and f------ consistency, and that's all that matters to me. I want to win."

Some have speculated that Patriots owner Robert Kraft may look to keep Belichick with the organization if New England impresses in this Sunday's home game against the lowly New York Jets. Perhaps Davis views the Raiders-Broncos showdown at Vegas' Allegiant Stadium as a chance for Pierce to show he deserves more than just a courtesy interview during the hiring process.
