Raiders placing rookie CB Damon Arnette on reserve/COVID-19 list

ESPN's Paul Gutierrez reported on Monday afternoon that the Las Vegas Raiders, fresh off their bye week, are placing rookie cornerback Damon Arnette on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The 24-year-old selected with the 19th pick of the 2020 NFL Draft hasn't played since a loss to the New England Patriots on Sept. 27 when he landed awkwardly on his right hand and injured his thumb. Arnette, who underwent surgery to repair the injury the subsequent week, is currently on injured reserve.

Arnette started the first three games for the Raiders, who won two of them. Without Arnette on the field, Las Vegas lost to the Buffalo Bills but then notched an upset victory over the Kansas City Chiefs before the off week.

The first-year pro had 13 total tackles, 11 solo, and one pass defended over his first three games before the injury made him a spectator. Per Marcus Mosher of Raiders Wire, Arnette could miss "the next few months."

Las Vegas is also removing defensive tackle Maurice Hurst from the reserve/COVID-19 list that he landed on Oct. 6. It's believed nobody else within the Raiders has tested positive for the coronavirus and that the Sunday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers should go on as scheduled.
