Raiders Pro Bowl TE Darren Waller has 'all the belief in the world in Derek Carr'

Amid continued speculation and rumors that the Las Vegas Raiders may or may not be interested in unsettled Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Russell Wilson, teammates of Derek Carr, the current starting QB for the Raiders, are coming to his defense.

Raiders fullback Alec Ingold recently told Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he believes Carr "can take this team and this organization to a Super Bowl." As Nick Shook noted for the league's official website, tight end Darren Waller also spoke highly of Carr during a Wednesday appearance on NFL Network's "Good Morning Football."

"I have all the belief in the world in Derek Carr," Waller explained. "I have ever since I got here. I still do to this day. I think he's a guy that can take us everywhere we want to go."

The Raiders haven't qualified for the postseason since the 2016 campaign, and Waller added that the playoff drought growing by another year shouldn't be acceptable to those inside the club's locker room.

"No more excuses. No more justifications," he said about the Raiders potentially missing the postseason tournament again. "I know offensively speaking, on the side of the ball that I'm on, we can be better in the red zone. We're good at a lot of things, but we can definitely be better at red zone efficiency and scoring touchdowns there.

"Defense, I feel like just for them, the small things and those little habits and how we prepare on a week-to-week basis will carry over into the game, playing a more simpler scheme for them and allowing their individual skill sets to shine and just being more disciplined. I feel like we're right there outside of a few plays even the defense would agree can't happen. We're right there. So I believe in these guys and I know that this year is going to be a special year for us."

With the Seahawks reportedly desiring three first-round draft picks, along with other assets, in a trade for Wilson, logic suggests Waller and Carr will remain teammates through the start of September and Week 1 of the 2021 season.
