Raiders QB responds to Johnny Manziel's critical comments

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Brian Hoyer appeared on "Good Morning Football" on Tuesday and responded to former signal-caller Johnny Manziel's recent criticism of him.

While talking on Shannon Sharpe's "Club Shay Shay " podcast, Manziel discussed his rookie season with the Cleveland Browns and how the quarterback room "was not a home" because of Hoyer.

Brian Hoyer had been waiting on an opportunity to be able to go provide for his family, get an opportunity and he saw how much of an upper hand he had on me. And he didn’t hold back when it came to that," Manziel said.

Hoyer reacted to this critical comments in the video below.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner has started to open up in recent years about his brief NFL career, discussing his struggles with mental health. The 31-year-old revealed in a 2023 Netflix documentary, “Untold: Johnny Football,” that he attempted suicide in the months after the Browns cut him in 2016.

The former Texas A&M star was selected by Cleveland in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Manziel played just 14 games, making eight starts across two seasons, before being cut in March 2016.

Hoyer started a career-high 13 games for the Browns in 2014, leading the team to seven wins while posting a 55.3% completion percentage, 3,326 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. The Michigan State product had just a 76.5 passer rating but led the NFL in yards per completion (13.7).
