The Las Vegas Raiders continue to prioritize bringing back their own free agents, and they did so on Saturday, bringing back center Hroniss Grasu on a one-year deal.

Grasu, 31, has spent the last few seasons with the Raiders after being signed to the practice squad in 2021. Last season, he appeared in four games for the Raiders, starting one.

Grasu was drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears out of Oregon. He spent a couple years there before making stops with the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers.

Grasu has made 17 career starts over his eight year career, allowing just five sacks over that timeframe. He has played 1,176 snaps in his career, according to Pro Football Focus.

Grasu’s re-signing gives the Raiders some depth at the center position behind starter Andre James. He becomes the fourth offensive lineman to re-sign with the team this offseason, joining Jermaine Eluemunor, Brandon Parker, and Netane Muti. Alex Bars and Jackson Barton remain unsigned.

The Raiders have found their quarterback in Jimmy Garoppolo and are now adding offensive line depth to keep him protected. General Manager Dave Ziegler also continues to bring back many of the Raiders’ own free agents, as Grasu is the tenth Raider free agent to be re-signed.

The Raiders are looking to build a team capable of getting back to the playoffs, and part of that plan appears to be bringing back many of their own familiar faces. Grasu fits that mold and provides depth to a crucial position group.

The NFL Draft will occur at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo., from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29. ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network will broadcast all seven rounds.

The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15. The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
