Undoubtedly, the Las Vegas Raiders nailed the hammer by signing linebacker Robert Spillane during the 2023 NFL offseason.
Spillane was one of the few Raider defenders who finished as one of the best on the Silver and Black defense.
In a recent Pro Football Focus article, the website listed every NFL team's most improved player, and the website listed Spillane as the most improved player for the Raiders.
Spillane finished the season with the third-highest Pro Football Focus grade on the Silver and Black defense and the highest Pro Football Focus grade in the Raiders linebacker room. He finished with a Pro Football Focus grade of 77.0, a run defense grade of 89.0, and a pass rush grade of 87.1.
Pro Football Focus also recognizes Spillane as one of the players who improved the most between 2022 and 2023. In 2022, Spillane finished the season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 52.5 and finished the 2022 season with 52 solo tackles, 27 assists, and 1.0 sacks in 16 games. Also, during his time with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Spillane only played under 600 snaps. This season, he played 1,100 snaps, the most he has ever played in his career.
In his first season with the Silver and Black Spillane finished with 82 solo tackles, 66 assists, 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and three interceptions in 17 games this season.
Spillane looks to yet again be a factor in the linebacker room for the Silver and Black defense next season.
