Safety Tyreque Jones was one of the Las Vegas Raiders' final three reserve/future contract signees last month. He was also one of only three reserve/future additions from last month who had not previously been with the team.
Jones was last with the Indianapolis Colts as a practice squad member. Before that, he spent just under two months with the New York Jets, who released him in late October. Jones had been signed to the Jets' practice squad after being waived by the Tennessee Titans as part of final roster cuts.
Jones was a preseason standout for the Titans in 2023, totaling 11 tackles in the team's first two preseason games. His seven combined tackles in Tennessee's 24-16 win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 of the preseason led all Titans.
Tennessee signed Jones as an undrafted free agent last May. He had previously spent six years (five active seasons) at Boise State.
In his final season as a Bronco (2022), Jones started 12 games, recording 34 combined tackles, 4.5 for losses, three passes defensed, and an interception. He was named an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention.
Jones also made 12 starts the season prior, posting 52 combined tackles, 3.0 for losses, a forced fumble, two interceptions, and six passes defensed. He received All-Mountain West Honorable Mention honors for that season as well.
In total, Jones tallied 157 combined tackles, 12 for losses, a sack, four interceptions, 18 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries in 57 career games with Boise State.
Jones' one-year contract with the Raiders is worth $795,000.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
