The Los Angeles Rams are starting to get more and more good news on the injury front.

Most recently, that good news comes in the form of the running back room, which is set to see the return of injured do-it-all talent Ronnie Rivers.

The Rams designated Rivers for return from injured reserve on Tuesday, opening the 21-day practice window, and allowing the Rams to activate him at any time over the next three weeks.

Rivers suffered a knee injury in the Rams Week 6 win over the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium, leaving him sidelined for the last nine weeks.

Before the injury, Rivers had served as the Rams' primary backup running back. After he went down, however, the Rams brought in Darrell Henderson and Royce Freeman, with Freeman ultimately winning the backup job behind Kyren Williams.

In place of Rivers, Freeman has rushed 73 times for 317 yards and two touchdowns, while Kyren Williams has thrived and has become one of the top backs in the NFL.

“I think (Freeman) has done a really good job and I think he's a good compliment to some of the things that Kyren brings to the table, physical presence," McVay told reporters in November. "That's really kind of been on display for the most part since the Pittsburgh game. I think he has earned (the No. 2 role).”

Rivers, who had 57 yards on 13 carries and four catches for 18 yards before the injury, could still find a way to contribute to the game plan thanks to his versatility.

And his versatility will now be available to the Rams immediately vs. the Saints on Thursday.
