Training camp comes as a busy time for the NFL transaction wire. With players constantly being added and subtracted, the movement is constant as the season builds. On Wednesday, the Chicago Bears locked up tight end Cole Kmet to a long-term extension. However, with securing Kmet's future, the team has lost another player to the Los Angeles Rams.

Per Tom Pelissero and the wire, the Rams claimed linebacker Sterling Weatherford off waivers from the Bears.

Weatherford was claimed off waivers by the Bears last season from the Indianapolis Colts. Weatherford played defensive back in college at the University of Miami (OH) and was converted to linebacker after signing with the Colts as an undrafted free agent. Colts fans feel like Weatherford was one of the player that got away, inferring Weatherford's services were highly coveted.

Weatherford only recorded four total tackles with the Bears in 2022. He saw action in 14 games, mostly on special teams. With the additions of Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards in the offseason, Weatherford found himself near the bottom of the depth chart. The team placed the linebacker on waivers on Tuesday in order to clear space on the 90-man roster for Buddy Johnson and Isaiah Ford. Now, he'll have another opportunity to make a NFL roster in Los Angeles.
