Rams QB Matthew Stafford has much better understanding of offense in year two

All things considered, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford enjoyed a relatively positive first year with the organization after he was officially traded by the Detroit Lions in March 2021.

According to ESPN stats, Stafford ended the regular season fourth among all eligible signal-callers with a 63.8 total QBR, second with 41 passing touchdowns and third with 4,886 yards through the air. The 34-year-old then went on to help the Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

Per Stu Jackson of the Rams' website, Stafford explained in a recent edition of "Behind The Grind" that he expects to have an even better command of the club's offense this fall.

"At this point in the year last season, I think to myself what I knew about this team and this offense, and it's just so small in comparison to what I know and understand now," Stafford remarked. "So that gives me great comfort in the fact that we can go above and beyond what we did last year."

The Rams rewarded Stafford with a lucrative contract extension in March, but he's not letting that or the feeling of hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy stop him from wanting more moving forward.

"I'm excited about it," Stafford said about trying to match or even better last season's accomplishments. "When you get a taste of that success, it only makes you want it more."
