Rams safety Eric Weddle 're-retiring' after Super Bowl victory
NFL safety Eric Weddle has had quite the stint on the gridiron since coming out of retirement on January 12 to help out the Los Angeles Rams' injured secondary.
Now that the Rams have won the Super Bowl, Weddle is going to celebrate and hang his cleats back up.
Weddle, 37, told the media he tore his pectoral muscle during the first quarter of Sunday's big game but played through it in what looks to be his last hoorah. He plans to have surgery soon to repair the injury.
Weddle logged 18 total tackles for the Rams this postseason, five of which were in the Super Bowl.
The safety isn't the only player to sustain a major injury during Sunday's game. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. sustained a non-contact knee injury and had to miss the remainder of the game.
Weddle also isn't the only member of the Super Bowl champion team to be linked to retirement talk. While Weddle's decision is final, many are now focussing on rumors that All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald could call it a career at the age of 30.
