Rams want WR Odell Beckham Jr. back depending on recovery timeline

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. tallied just 17 catches for 232 yards and zero touchdowns with the Cleveland Browns during the 2021 NFL season before he and the Browns parted ways in November. The three-time Pro Bowl selection then found new life with the Los Angeles Rams, where he recorded 27 receptions for 305 yards with five touchdowns through the remainder of the regular season and then added 21 grabs for 288 yards and two scores in the playoffs.

One of Beckham's postseason touchdowns occurred in the Super Bowl LVI victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, but that proved to be somewhat of a bittersweet day for the 29-year-old who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during that championship game.

Beckham officially hits free agency when the new league year opens on March 16, and Rams general manager Les Snead told reporters Wednesday he'd be interested in a reunion at some point but only if the recovery timeline works out for all involved:

As Chase Goodbread noted for the NFL's website, Beckham tore the same ACL on Oct. 25, 2020, while playing for the Browns. He ultimately missed the first two games of the subsequent campaign and didn't debut this past fall until Week 3 on Sept. 26.

Logic suggests Beckham won't be able to offer the Rams, or any team, on-the-field help before next January at the earliest, but his injury history coupled with the fact he'll be 30 years old by the time he takes the field again should make him an inexpensive option if the Rams are back in the playoffs roughly 10 months down the road.
