Free agency came and went earlier in March, and it certainly was an interesting stretch for the Miami Dolphins.
Christian Wilkins and Robert Hunt both left for nine-figure contracts elsewhere, with Wilkins signing a four-year $110 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders and Hunt inking a five-year $100 million contract with the Carolina Panthers.
However, Miami was able to get under the salary cap and make some significant moves to bolster their roster, adding Jordan Poyer, Jordyn Brooks, Aaron Brewer, and Kendall Fuller, among others.
So with the draft now under four weeks away, where do things stand for the Dolphins as far as roster needs?
5) Third receiver
Miami reportedly met with Odell Beckham, Jr. earlier this month at the Dolphins' facility. However, he left town with no contract despite the team reportedly making him an offer. Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft are back, but this team still desperately needs a big and productive target to add to its WR room.
4) Safety
Jordan Poyer is only a one-year deal, as is Elijah Campbell. Brandon Jones and DeShon Elliott left in free agency. As such, Miami needs someone both that can provide quality depth and be someone in their plans for beyond 2024.
3) Edge rusher
Miami will get back Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips from injury at some point during the 2024 season, but last year proved you can never have enough good pass rushers. Miami could use someone early to help Shaq Barrett handle the load until the starting duo gets back on the field as well as serve as a reliable reserve when they do.
2) Defensive line
The loss of Christian Wilkins hurts big time. He was reliable, rarely injured, and highly productive. Raekwon Davis is also gone to the Indianapolis Colts. As such, Miami needs to find someone disruptive to pair alongside Zach Sieler.
1) Interior offensive line
With all three starters from 2023 free agents, Miami had to do something to address the line, and they did. The team added former Titans G/C Aaron Brewer and re-signed Isaiah Wynn and restricted free agent Robert Jones. They also added a potential guard prospect in former Eagles G/T Jake Driscoll.
However, it still doesn't feel like the Dolphins have an answer to the positional group. Connor Williams could become a post-June 1 signing, which would be a significant one. Or the Dolphins could add an IOL in the draft, perhaps Jackson Powers-Johnson or Graham Barton. Or heck, perhaps they could land both.
Until Miami builds a wall in front of Tua Tagovailoa - and a reliable one at that - Miami won't take the next step from playoff team to true Super Bowl contender.
