Rapoport: DeAndre Hopkins flexible on endgame of contract

DeAndre Hopkins' reported contract flexibility makes him the ideal offseason target for the Dallas Cowboys.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, if Arizona finds a trade partner for the veteran star, Hopkins will potentially bend on the final two years of his contract -- which has $34.4M due, per  OverTheCap -- instead of asking for a "top-of-the-market" contract.

The contract flexibility should appeal to the Cowboys, likewise the actual trade price. Per Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, acquiring Hopkins may only require a Day 2 pick.

Just for comparison's sake, the Raiders dealt Green Bay their 2022 first- and second-round picks for six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams.

Hopkins does not have quite the same clean profile as Adams, having missed 15 games over the past two seasons, including Hopkins for six games for a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.

Despite the caveats, Hopkins would be worth it for Dallas. The team's wideout corps needs a jolt, ranking 18th in receiving yards last season, with only CeeDee Lamb crossing the 60-reception mark.

Hopkins must waive his no-trade clause for any deal to go through, though it should be noted, if only as a nugget of interest, that Hopkins and former Cowboys great Dez Bryant have been seen on live social media together.
