Rating potential suitors for Eagles LB Haason Reddick

Philadelphia's addition of linebackers Bryce Huff and Devin White to their roster has made current Eagle Haason Reddick somewhat expendable. Several teams have been floated as potential trade partners for the two-time Pro Bowler, but some make more sense than others. 

Most likely: Los Angeles Rams

With a 36-year-old starting quarterback in Matthew Stafford, the Rams’ championship window is closing fast, and without recently retired Aaron Donald, L.A. needs a pass-rusher. Rookie linebacker Byron Young tied Donald with eight sacks last season and pairing him with Reddick makes sense for a contender with 11 picks in the upcoming draft.

Very likely: Arizona Cardinals

Reddick spent the first four years of his career with Arizona but joined the Eagles in 2022 after one year with the Panthers. He had a career-high 16 sacks that year, while Jonathan Gannon was Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator. Now that Gannon is head coach of the Cardinals, the team should do everything it can to bring Reddick to Arizona.

Only the Panthers (27) and Bears (30) had fewer sacks than the Cardinals (33) last season and only the Commanders allowed more points per game. Reddick had 11 sacks in what most considered a down year.

With a healthy $30.5M in cap space and three first-round picks in 2024, a draft-day move for Reddick could be possible.

Fairly likely: New England Patriots  

Bill Belichick may be gone, but the team’s defensive mindset remains with former player and new head coach Jerod Mayo. New England finished 27th in sacks with 36 last season. Christian Barmore led the team with 8.5 sacks, which put him in a four-way tie for 33rd place.

Reddick would be perfect for a team that sees quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers and Tua Tagovailoa twice yearly. He’s probably looking for an extension or a bump to his $14M salary, but with a healthy $56M in cap space and a full slate of draft picks, the Patriots can afford to bring Reddick to the AFC East.

Stranger things have happened: Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville has only $15M in cap space but holds an extra fourth-round pick from the Saints. That alone won’t get Reddick in the building, but head coach Doug Pederson’s relationship with Philadelphia might do it.

Pederson played for the Eagles in 1999 and won Super Bowl LVI as their head coach in 2018. They fired him in 2021, but there should be enough water under the bridge to keep trade talks afloat. Getting Reddick to play alongside Pro Bowl linebacker Josh Allen could be enough to get Jacksonville over the hump.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles pushed Reddick’s $1M roster bonus back to April 1 making a trade even more likely.
