Ravens expected to lose more staff after departure of DC Mike Macdonald

The Ravens lost defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald on Wednesday after the Seahawks hired him to be their next head coach. However, it seems like the losses to Baltimore's coaching staff aren't stopping there.

According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, the Titans are hiring Ravens defensive backs coach Dennard Wilson as their new defensive coordinator.

Wilson, who just joined Baltimore in 2023, was a potential candidate to be the team's next defensive coordinator. But Tennessee was able to move quicker, and it may not be the only team planning to do so.

Several teams have shown interest in Ravens assistant head coach and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver, who played a large role in the development of DT Justin Madubuike and the resurgence of veteran linebackers Jadeveon Clowney and Kyle Van Noy.

Inside linebackers coach Zachary Orr is also considered a candidate to become the Seahawks defensive coordinator after working with Macdonald in Baltimore for the past two seasons, a source told ESPN.

It's unlikely that the Ravens will lose Weaver and Orr after losing Macdonald and Wilson, but it's not an impossible scenario that could play out either.

Baltimore had one of the best defenses in the league this season, allowing the fewest points per game (16.5) while also recording the most sacks (60) and takeaways (31). All four of these men are a reason why, which is why they're all in contention for or earning promotions.

It proves the Ravens better move quickly to fill the holes left by Macdonald and Wilson. Weaver and Orr are certainly names to watch as Baltimore hopes it doesn't lose any more pieces of its coaching staff following an impressive season.

Being one of the best teams in the league certainly has its perks. But there tends to be a little bit more turnover as other teams look to steal from you. The Ravens are experiencing that to start 2024.
