As the Baltimore Ravens ponder free agent moves and the running back position this offseason, an AFC rival could come knocking on the running backs room door.

Gus Edwards performed admirably last season after filling in for starter J.K. Dobbins, who went down in Week 1 with an Achilles tear and missed the rest of the season.

But speculation is Baltimore wants to upgrade at the running back position, and general manager Eric DeCosta is looking into outside free agents like Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Tony Pollard or Josh Jacobs.

If the team decides to move on from Edwards, one team that could make sense - according to EbonyBird - is the Los Angeles Chargers.

"One team that makes a ton of sense for him (once they get done shedding some of their worst contracts) is the Los Angeles Chargers, now run by a GM in Joe Hortiz, who was plucked right from the Ravens front office. Very few people in the NFL know Edwards in the way Hortiz does.

"With Hortiz running the show in LA and much-maligned Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman being hired to the same position, the Chargers need to get some extra physicality in their offense makes them a prime landing spot for a back in Edwards looking for a big payday."

Roman, of course, was with the Ravens when they originally signed Edwards as an undrafted free agent and is now running the offense in Los Angeles for new coach Jim Harbaugh.

It could be the perfect scenario for Edwards who should already be familiar with Roman's offense.
