Ravens 'made a great push' for Pro Bowl WR T.Y. Hilton?

The Baltimore Ravens are reportedly in the market for an upgrade at the wide receiver position but struck out on their latest target.

On Wednesday, four-time Pro Bowl receiver T.Y. Hilton officially agreed to return to the Indianapolis Colts, the only NFL home he's known since the 2012 draft, via a one-year contract that could be worth up to $10 million with $8 million guaranteed.

Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, Hilton explained on Thursday's edition of "The Pat McAfee Show" that he nearly completed a move to the AFC North club. "I’d been talking to [the Ravens] the whole time," Hilton said. "They came in and made a great push at the end. They wanted to get it done."

Thus far, the Ravens were unable to lure Hilton or JuJu Smith-Schuster to Baltimore. As PFT's Josh Alper noted, the Ravens allowed veteran Sammy Watkins to complete a visit without signing a contract, and he later met with the Colts. These developments led ESPN's Jamison Hensley to wonder if top-tier receivers looking for new contracts don't want to play in a Baltimore offense perceived to be a run-first unit.

Maybe the Ravens shouldn't have been so quick to give up on Dez Bryant, after all.
